Aftermath (picture a day day 4)

Saturday was quite the day. You've seen the beautiful blue sky in the picture taken on Saturday. Well it was rather breezy, which was a problem as I shall shortly explain.
As you know I'd been down at the old depot getting some pictures there while I was there a few fire engines went by.
"Grass Fire" A local said to me.
Another one went by, and another. "Looks like a good size grass fire" He added as further fire engines passed by, sirens blaring.
I drove home and could see a plume of smoke rising into the sky. It looked for a moment like it was coming from our house. That initial moment of concern passed quickly as I could see no fire engines in the street.
As the situation developed We found we could smell burning and we could see smoke blowing across the road. Then the firefighting aircraft from Brainerd flew over- twice.
It was not difficult to work out something major was going on.
We tried to get a look-see as we headed over to St. Cloud for dinner. All roads around the fire were blocked off but we could see some flames in the distance. When we returned some three hours later some roads were still closed.
When we saw the news later that night we found out that it was the largest grass fire of the spring in Minnesota. Someone had been boiling down maple syrup the fire blew over and spread like... well, wildfire. It came within about 3/4 of a mile of our house.
Curious we decided to go and have a look at the aftermath in the morning.
A black scar in the grass about 2 miles long was still smoking.
